Europe that has ceased “to be green”. Andrey Nagibin, leader of the “Green patrol” Movement announced that the European countries will be the first to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement. According to him, the green agenda is no longer urgent for Russia’s western neighbours for the EU has ceased to be “green”.

“It was Europe to initiate the Paris Climate Agreement, which we joined last year. Europe was to stop using coal as an energy source and move to green energy source. But due to some political ambitions the green agenda has simply failed”, Nagibin said.

In addition to the fact that European countries began to purchasing more coal, they also started to resume mining activities at their own coal mines. "It turns out that the environmental agenda is going nowhere. Europe has ceased to be green. In order to limit the supplies of Russian gas and other hydrocarbons in something, they are now trying to grab any options, including, for example, bituminous sands from Canada, mining of which is actually a very energy-consuming process," the expert noted. - In this situation, we believe that Europe is the first to withdraw from the Paris Agreement, which many countries are parties to, because no environmental aspects are  observed any more. Survival is the most important thing at the moment. They say that ecology is the something for the rich people to care about. When you're doing well, you think about ecology and the environment, and when you have nothing to eat and you freeze, ecology turn to the be last thing to care about. Therefore, it seems to me that this very principle is triggered now, when Europe is not interested in the environmental agenda at all, for feeding the population and preparation for winter are the most important things for them."

While the environmental agenda is abandoning the European minds, Russia continues to adhere to the standards, Nagibin stressed. "We are thinking about emissions and we haven't stopped financing national environmental projects. We continue achieving the parameters that we had planned, but Europe has already abandoned everything for the sake of the desire not to use Russian energy resources," the expert summarised.

Earlier it became known that in May, the EU sharply increased purchases of Russian coal by 80 percent compared to April.

Europe received 4.7 million tons of coal worth 1.1 billion Euros in May against 2.6 million tons worth 700 million Euros in April. Almost half of this amount of coal was bought by the Netherlands (2.2 million tons, four times increase compared to April). Poland purchased 19.2 thousand tons, reducing imports by 95 percent. Before that, the country used to be a major importer of Russian coal
